Interdisciplinarity is the guiding principle
for the programme. We define "applied
ethics" as a combination of ethical and
some specialist professional expertise.
Applied ethics is a central component in
many research projects, and an increasing
number of PhD researchers have a close
working relationship with the Programme.
The medical and biotechnological research
fields are especially active in applied
ethics, but applied ethics is also a central
component in many ongoing activities in
media studies, information technology
and in the technological sciences.
The programme is governed by a board
drawn from a number of
faculties, and it is
managed by Associate
Professor May Thorseth
in the Department of
Philosophy.
